About The Children's Support Foundation

The Children's Support Foundation is a planned giving collaborative among three leading youth service agencies - Children's Village, Inwood House, and Safe Space - to create lasting support for New York's most vulnerable youth and young families. Together, the collaborative serves more than 30,000 young people and provides donors the opportunity to make a significant impact on child and family poverty in the New York metropolitan area. The agencies' spectrum of evidence-based services include child welfare, community-based health services, school-based teen pregnancy and AIDS prevention, youth leadership, young adult support services and specialized maternal health and family support services for pregnant and parenting teens. A seed grant from the Booth Ferris Foundation will support The Children's Support Foundation's first years of operation. The effort is supported by a Professional Advisory Committee, whose members represent the nation's leading investment, wealth management, and philanthropy advisors.

  • The Children's Village was founded in 1851 to shelter the homeless immigrant children of New York City's Lower East Side. Today, The Children's Village is a leader in protecting and nurturing some of the most at-risk youth in the New York region, serving more than 1,000 children in residential programs and reaching approximately 6,000 children and their family members in the community each year.
  • Inwood House was established in 1830 to help delinquent and sexually exploited girls rebuild their lives. Today it is a nationally recognized leader and innovator in teen pregnancy prevention, youth development and family support. Through its Maternity Residence and Continuum of Care for pregnant and parenting teens, as well as community and school-based teen pregnancy and AIDS prevention initiatives, Inwood House is dedicated to helping young people become healthy and self-reliant adults. The agency serves 5,500 New York City and New Jersey youth annually.
  • Safe Space serves nearly 20,000 youth annually and offers an integrated system of progressive services in the following core areas: Children and Family Services, Young Adult Services and Community Health Services. Safe Space continues to be a leader in youth and family services with innovative programs that reflect its mission since 1919: to protect kids, keep them safe and help them grow.
